I recently purchased a 55" Panasonic plasma television and decided that I wanted to wall mount it. After a bit of searching on the Amazon website, I found this mount. Having little experience in TV wall mounts, I decided to take a chance on this mount versus getting a Sanus mount. I had it installed professionally yesterday and so far, it has proven to be an outstanding mount. Here are my pros and cons:

PROs:

- Exceptionally quality and build for the price (most stands of this quality usually run for $400 and more

- Dyconn chose aircraft grade aluminum alloy instead of the industry standard iron - this reduces the total weight of the mount by 30lbs and reduces the total weight load on the wall studs

- Has tilt, swivel, and extension adjustability

- Equipped with locking bracket to prevent shifting of the TV on the mount

CONs:

- Limited adjustability in mounting the bracket off center in the event that the wall studs are not centered with where the customer wants the TV mount. Sanus mounts allow for much greater adjustability in these types of situations, so check your wall stud locations before deciding on which mount to get. If your studs are nearly centered, the this mount is for you!

- The stock bolts that came with the mount were too long to use for the TV mounting brackets (the steel brackets that screw into the back of the TV). In fact, the bolts that came with the mount were almost double the length required. Most likely, Dyconn has not yet adjusted to the market of super thin TVs for which these bolts can not be used. Luckily, the professional installer I hired had extra studs to use in their place - and yes, he got those from a Sanus mount kit...lol. So something to consider - if you have a very thin TV to mount, you may want to prepare yourself for a trip to the local hardware store to get the proper length bolts, or just hire a professional installer and he will most likely have them on hand.

- Built-in wire management system is not that great and is very limited in real world application.

SUMMARY: This is a very good mount for those who have wall studs that are nearly centered at the location they want the TV. But, the lack of the properly sized mounting bracket bolts prevents this mount from getting a five star rating. No one should have to visit their local hardware store or rely upon the professional installer for parts that should have been included with the mount. This is a $300 mount and thus this type of issue is unacceptable. The only reason why I gave it a 4 star rating is that after overcoming those two obstacles, it ended up being a very good mount for my particular setup. My advice is to make sure to take a look at the Sanus mounts before you decide which mount to buy.
