Sony VCL-HG0872 Wide Conversion Lens for HDRFX1 & HVRZ1U Review

I bought this for my new HDV FX1 Camcorder, and it works great. Unlike the Century wide-angle lens, this is fully zoom-through. Lens is .8x, which is less than the Century and others, but just about right for HD--since the FX1 already can do a pretty decent wide shot when the zoom is fully backed out, this just gives it an extra boost, converting the camera view from roughly a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera to about a 28mm. Also, very little barrel distortion.

In all a great lens. Only drawback is that it's a big (heavy) lens, but then, hey, it's for a serious prosumer camcorder.

Leupold Riflescope Vx-I 3-9X40Mm Matte Lr Duplex 61255 Review

Leupold is one of the best in the business when it comes to making quality optics. I bought this scope for my .308 Remington 700 SPS Tactical and I absolutely love it. I have it mounted with Leupold dual dovetail low rings and a 1-piece mount.

This scope has enough power to make 600 yard shots at 9x magnification without difficulty (furthest I've used it to shoot) and can be adjusted down to 3x magnification for closer shots on moving targets. Focus is excellent for all magnifications.

The 40mm lens provides more than enough light for the power of this scope, sight picture is bright and clear. I go to the range after work a lot and shoot until dusk so I'm sure it would work just as well for an early morning hunt with less than full daylight.

Pros:
Bright sight picture
Variable magnification allows multiple uses
3 choices for reticles (i have the LR duplex)
Sturdy construction, feels solid
Leupold's lifetime warranty
Great value

Cons:
1/4 MOA adjustment knobs don't click per adjustment like more expensive scopes, adjustments are made agaisnt the 1/4 MOA incremented adjustment dials so it can be a little more difficult to get this scope zero'd than top of the line products.

Overall this is an excellent scope, especially when considering the price.
I would recommend this scope to anyone looking for a good intermediate scope that won't break the bank but offers features well above your base models.

PYLE-PRO PPHP150A - 15'' 1200 Watt Powered 2 Way Full Range Loud Speaker System Review

I've had a pair of these for 10 months now, using in mobile DJ and mobile cinema applications. Acceptable - not great - sound. Pretty good power output - they will go loud! I also have a pair of Mackie THUMP TH15As - they certainly sound more refined and overall better than these Pyles, with deeper bass and clearer highs, but at a third lower price I would have to say the Pyles are a decent buy. There is fabulous flexibility on the interface of these Pyles - 2 line inputs, each with XLR and 1/4" jacks, switchable for line or mic, plus a third line input with RCA jacks, and XLR or 1/4inch loop through outputs. Added to this is separate volume controls for each input, a separate overall gain control, and separate base and treble controls. The claims of Pyle in the pubilshed spec for the unit (ie 1200 watts, 40Hz to 20Khz at -3db etc) are beyond a 'stretch' to outright ludicrous, being clearly nowhere near such high-end performance. And don't expect responsiveness from Pyle to emailed customer queries etc. I suppose this is part of the reason for the low price but really, they should do better. The other downside is that the unit is relatively heavy at 60lbs, compared with the Mackies at 36lbs. Still, this box will do a very decent job for you in PA-type applications, even if you are a discerning and demanding sound man as I am. My most recent occassion using them was for an outdoor movie night at a church, in a sizeable parking lot area, and comments from the audience were that the sound was like being in a cinema.

Update on 2 Mar 2012 - Re Pyle Customer Service, they seemd to have contracted a third party customer service entity, and are doing much better these days. A few weeks ago I emailed advising of a blown tweeter in my PPHP1294A powered 12" speaker cabinet and broken boom connector bracket on my PMKS33 mic stand. Based on past experience, I did this just as due process, I was not expecting a response. To my pleasant surprise, they emailed back next day (not from a pyle.com address) and sent out replacement parts a week later, without charge!

Product Description

Protect your organization's portable data by choosing Kingston's ultra-secure DataTraveler 6000 USB Flash drive. The DT6000 is FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated and features 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption using XTS block cipher mode. XTS is the newest cipher mode that provides stronger protection over other block cipher modes such as CBC and ECB modes. DataTraveler 6000 uses elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), which is recommended by the United States National Security Agency (NSA) as part of the NSA Suite B set of cryptographic algorithms. Encryption keys are protected with a 256-bit Master Key Encryption Key (MKEK), preserving the AES 256-bit encryption strength. Its 100% hardware authentication eliminates the possibility of password brute force attacks by destroying all critical security parameters after 10 invalid login attempts. DataTraveler 6000 is rugged and waterproof, with a titanium-coated, stainless-steel casing for added durability. It's easy to set up and use, with no admin rights or application installation required.

Kingston Digital DataTraveler 6000 2 GB Flash Drive - DT6000/2GB Review

If you use and transport confidential data, this data stick will give you a lot more peace of mind. It's worked perfectly for me. When first plugged in, the device acts like a CD-ROM, which apparently can't be modified by a rootkit or other nasty piece of software. It has auto-boot or manual-boot software, where you define a password that's pretty strict, must contain 3 of upper, lower, number, and special characters, and be above about 8 characters. Once this has been set up, you have a 16 gb data stick with a rubber casing that no one can break into if you happen to lose it or have it stolen. 10 failed attempts to enter your passkey and the drive reformats itself, not just "erasing" but actually re-setting all your data to 1's so nothing can ever be retrieved, and the passkey is destroyed. I carry this in a pocket or have it attached to my computer, or else it's under lock and key. My life feels a lot more comfortable with confidential information protected this well.

It has worked on 2 Windows 7 and 1 XP machine so far, without a single glitch.

X4 Series 1050W Atx Ps Review

I purchased this Ultra 1050W PSU because they have an excellent reputation and it is fully modular to assist with Cable management. It comes with more than enough cables to cover any add-on's I might have in the future. A nice touch is each cable comes with a Velcro tie to help keep everything tidy.

It worked right out of the box and I am very pleased with it. The life time limited warranty is a nice thing to have as well - just make sure you register it.

The thing that surprised me was the size! It is the same physical size as a 750W Kingwig I purchased for the other PC when I upgraded the video card. This PSU should fit any STD ATX Midsized box. You don't need a huge tower to fit one of these, but check your power hungry video card - it may require you to have a bigger then STD case.

This PSU's cooling fan is 135mm and I can't hear it running in my case at all. It is very quirt.

I have installed a Smart UPS 1000 from APC as up here in Maine the Power has a propensity to go off a fair amount. This is something to think about if your power is anything other than Stable. It will take a lot of worry out of running your PC and protect you hardware.

Packaging left a bit to be desired as it was loose in a big box and as it weighs quite a bit the outside of the PSU box showed a little crunching on one corner but the internal packing was up to the job thank goodness, and nothing was damaged. I guess the person doing the packing needs a little realignment :) Certainly not the fault of Ultra!

I would definitely recommend this PSU to anyone building a killer PC or just upgrading to better hardware.
It is a very good unit and well worth the price.

Gitzo Series 2 Magnesium Low Profile Fluid 3way Head - Large Plate G2270M

Gitzo G2270M Magnesium 3-Way 2 Series Head Large Plate Review

As a machinist who prides on precision, and takes that to the photography field as well. This is a well made product. At a glance, you know your getting quality and if you inspect the product they have done a fine job with machining a nice smooth mating surface to tripod with solid threading, the look and texture of it is really nice and professional looking, all axis are extremely smooth and require half turn to loosen and tighten and hold in all positions well with 6 lbs mounted. ***This is not a quick release*** You must roll the axis forward and screw it down to the head. To me, this give me added security, i dont need on the fly removal, and i much rather be graceful and patient with expensive equipment. I mated this with a Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod, for a total of 5.4 lbs. This head is LIGHT! Excellent buy i believe.
