X4 Series 1050W Atx Ps Review

I purchased this Ultra 1050W PSU because they have an excellent reputation and it is fully modular to assist with Cable management. It comes with more than enough cables to cover any add-on's I might have in the future. A nice touch is each cable comes with a Velcro tie to help keep everything tidy.

It worked right out of the box and I am very pleased with it. The life time limited warranty is a nice thing to have as well - just make sure you register it.

The thing that surprised me was the size! It is the same physical size as a 750W Kingwig I purchased for the other PC when I upgraded the video card. This PSU should fit any STD ATX Midsized box. You don't need a huge tower to fit one of these, but check your power hungry video card - it may require you to have a bigger then STD case.

This PSU's cooling fan is 135mm and I can't hear it running in my case at all. It is very quirt.

I have installed a Smart UPS 1000 from APC as up here in Maine the Power has a propensity to go off a fair amount. This is something to think about if your power is anything other than Stable. It will take a lot of worry out of running your PC and protect you hardware.

Packaging left a bit to be desired as it was loose in a big box and as it weighs quite a bit the outside of the PSU box showed a little crunching on one corner but the internal packing was up to the job thank goodness, and nothing was damaged. I guess the person doing the packing needs a little realignment :) Certainly not the fault of Ultra!

I would definitely recommend this PSU to anyone building a killer PC or just upgrading to better hardware.
It is a very good unit and well worth the price.
