High Power 5000mw Professional 4-Channel Wireless Audio Video TX Transmetter & Receiver Link. by YanTech USA Review

First off, let me explain my previous experience with this version of a product line.

Years ago (come to think of it I'm going to have to update my review of that item), I purchased a 700mw product comparable to this in frequency and design. Don't get me wrong; it worked well and I was satisfied until this point (about 2 years later), but I knew I needed to update my system.

My problem was, the 700mw transmitter just barely hit the range I needed. This is something I accepted (based on price), and was OK with. But now it's time to expand my system, so the 700mw transmitter ___noise___ 1000 must be replaced with something better, and that's where this product filled the gap so profusely, words escape me (which is hard for me).

PROS:
1. It works perfect
2. The range is phenomenal
3. With it's built-in power-in & power-out jacks, it can power both itself and your camera. Way cool!
4. The description "Built in Internal cooling fans" I believe is a simple misprint, and is meant to read: "Built in Internal cooling fins". Indeed, the transmitter has built-in cooling fins that maintain a reasonable temperature, less than it's 700mw cousin.

CONS:
1. The in-line plug/jack for the transmitter is *not* compatible (shame on them!). In other words, you MUST make sure that the connector that interfaces between the transmitter and the power/video/audio matches with the one received (don't mix up the 700mw with the 5,000mw). In the interest of ease-of-use, this type of change astounds the living crap out of me.
2. The mounting holes in the existing heat-sink are 7/64" diameter...impossible for nearly any reasonable permanent mounting arrangement. Drilling a 9/64" hole will allow you much greater flexibility, but will surely void any warranty {"Seller": Drill these out for us buyer's, and make it an easy sell, OK?}
3. This transmitter seems intended for covert usage due to the included belt-clip and matching screws. Moreover, the frequency range is more conducive to penetrating typical walls and such, so it kind of makes sense. I would suggest that the seller broadens his advertising market to not just include his/her designated market, but people like me who want to receive a signal from a remote garage. Hey, no harm in filling two needs, right?

BOTTOM LINE: I'm going to be purchasing a second unit like this, as it works so fantastically well. If *you* cannot achieve the range you hope for with this device, I would suggest that you're exceeding the limitations imposed by legal authority (i.e. FCC).

Hoya 82mm Extra Thin Circular Polarizer Super Multi Coated Glass Filter [Camera] Review

This filter is a great filter for many reasons. First off it is optimized for use with digital cameras with it's SMC coating. It is also a thin design so it works well on Ultra Wide Angles (I use mine on a 10-20mm) by not creating the vignetting that normal sized C-PL's can create. Hoya makes great products, and this is no exception. This filter is clearly high quality and doesn't have a cheap feel to it that some other brands have. The glass used is very clear and I definitely don't have any reserves about putting this in front of any of my lenses. If you don't have a polarizer already for your lens then a polarizer is a must buy and this is a great choice. Colors will look fuller and the sky more blue. PL's also remove glare from surfaces. If you like to shoot landscapes then I highly recommend you invest in a good C-PL. (Make sure you get a "circular" polarizer, not just a regular polarizer as those can mess with light metering and auto-focus)

Tiffen 58HTCGND6 58MM Digital HT Grad ND 0.6 Titanium Filter Review

This is a very high quality graduated neutral density filter with premium glass. I am a professional photographer and have owned dozens of filters over the years but since the advent of digital cameras and photoshop, I have tossed out every filter except the Grad ND and a polarizer. The grad filter proves invaluable for all kinds of subjects where the sky is way brighter than the rest of the scene. I use it for family portraiture all the time adnd every pro should use one of these to control exposure accross the scene. That being said, I have two gripes: First, there are no points on the edges to mark the center of the gradient, and once it's screwed onto the camera lens, its hard to tell where the gradient begins or ends. Consequently, I have marked the center-line edges with a dab of white-out for quick reference in the field. Second, the gradient seems to end abrublty half-way through the filter. It should be a gradual gradient from dark to light with no definite line down the center. Though this may be valuable for some subjects, I prefer a "true" gradient with a smoother "fall-off" or transition.

Nikon MONARCH 5 10x42 TRT 7546 Binocular Review

Have hunted now with these several times and compared with both my other Nikons and my Steiner 8 x 42's and all I can say is there is absolutely no need for 90% of hunters to buy better.

If you hunt in the hills where you need to use a spotting scope then perhaps Swarovski's are the go ... but otherwise unless you have the budget to throw around these will do the job and are magnificent.

In fact, I could see the pigs I was hunting at such a late time of dusk that it was wasted because it was too dark for me to see any of my pins and for my range finder to be able to work and even if it did I wouldn't have been able to read the readout because it was getting so dark. It was a new moon so very very dark dusk. As a result I missed my shot.

The Bino's allowed me to see easily in that light without any doubt. The clarity of the image was magnificent.

I actually purchased these because on my last dusk hunt, my hunting mate had his Nikon Monarchs (earlier model) and I had my Steiners and I could see far more with his Nikon's than my Steiners. Decision made!!

Very pleased with the spend and given the above I only wonder if I've bought too good a pair as what's the point of seeing so well when I can't fire my bow!! Not really a complaint. Very happy and recommended purchase!

Simmons .44 Mag TruPlex Reticle Side Parallax Adjustment Riflescope with Sun Shade and Target Turrets, 6-21x 44mm (Matte) Review

I've got two of these, and just ordered a third. It's a great scope for .22 target shooting, with AO and enough power to see your hits out to 100 yds without needing a spotting scope. The side focus is very convenient. This was the lightest and shortest scope I could find in this power, aperture, and price range, and I'm very happy with the two I have. The image is bright and sharp, and the Truplex reticle is sharp and fine at the center. Elevation and windage adjustments work well, although I don't think they are calibrated as advertised (1/4 and 1/8 at 100yds.)- probably a bit more. Both my scopes hold zero very well.

I also have a Mueller APV, which has gotten lots of great reviews, but it only goes up to 14x, has the focus on the objective, which is more difficult to use, no turrets, and has shorter eye relief. I like this one better. Just make sure your length of pull and rail or dovetail allows for placement a little farther out to accomodate the longer eye relief. When you don't need the extra power just dial the zoom down, but you've got the power if you want it. At 25 yds I set it at 12x, 14x at 50yds and 19x or so at 100yds. It baffles me why this scope isn't a lot more popular, at least with the rimfire crowd. I think it's the best value going.
