First off, let me explain my previous experience with this version of a product line.

Years ago (come to think of it I'm going to have to update my review of that item), I purchased a 700mw product comparable to this in frequency and design. Don't get me wrong; it worked well and I was satisfied until this point (about 2 years later), but I knew I needed to update my system.

My problem was, the 700mw transmitter just barely hit the range I needed. This is something I accepted (based on price), and was OK with. But now it's time to expand my system, so the 700mw transmitter ___noise___ 1000 must be replaced with something better, and that's where this product filled the gap so profusely, words escape me (which is hard for me).

PROS:
1. It works perfect
2. The range is phenomenal
3. With it's built-in power-in & power-out jacks, it can power both itself and your camera. Way cool!
4. The description "Built in Internal cooling fans" I believe is a simple misprint, and is meant to read: "Built in Internal cooling fins". Indeed, the transmitter has built-in cooling fins that maintain a reasonable temperature, less than it's 700mw cousin.

CONS:
1. The in-line plug/jack for the transmitter is *not* compatible (shame on them!). In other words, you MUST make sure that the connector that interfaces between the transmitter and the power/video/audio matches with the one received (don't mix up the 700mw with the 5,000mw). In the interest of ease-of-use, this type of change astounds the living crap out of me.
2. The mounting holes in the existing heat-sink are 7/64" diameter...impossible for nearly any reasonable permanent mounting arrangement. Drilling a 9/64" hole will allow you much greater flexibility, but will surely void any warranty {"Seller": Drill these out for us buyer's, and make it an easy sell, OK?}
3. This transmitter seems intended for covert usage due to the included belt-clip and matching screws. Moreover, the frequency range is more conducive to penetrating typical walls and such, so it kind of makes sense. I would suggest that the seller broadens his advertising market to not just include his/her designated market, but people like me who want to receive a signal from a remote garage. Hey, no harm in filling two needs, right?

BOTTOM LINE: I'm going to be purchasing a second unit like this, as it works so fantastically well. If *you* cannot achieve the range you hope for with this device, I would suggest that you're exceeding the limitations imposed by legal authority (i.e. FCC).
