Panasonic DMW-MCFX35 Marine Case for Panasonic FX37/FX35 Review

Last month I decided to replace my Sony camera/case combo with the Panasonic FX35 Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35K 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) and this case, and have returned from my first diving trip using the panasonic camera. During the trip I took around 650 10MB images and over 20 minutes of HD video, writing to a single 8 GB card, which worked very well. Transcend 8GB SDHC Card The entire kit was approximately $450 which is a good value.

My first impressions of the case are that it is very well built, and extremely small, which makes it very easy to fit it in a BCD jacket pocket.

The FMCFX35 case comes with o-ring lubricant and silica pouches, but no anti-fog solution. I experienced no fogging, without using anti-fog solution and was pleased with this. All controls for the camera are easily accessible, and the viewing screen is quite large, which is a great advantage over my older Sony's 1.5" display!

The case has a diffuser filter built in, which certainly helped with backscatter, but the camera's flash is not very powerful...even at macro distances . After my first trip with this I plan to purchase an external flash -- that will make a huge difference in performance.

The battery life was excellent. It easily handled two dives per day with heavy flash use and video.

The image quality of the photos were good but needed work to make them great. Most required heavy sharpening in iPhoto, as well as color adjustment. I have made good looking 12"x16" prints from the images.

I have never shot movies underwater before, and this was a great feature! The camera shoots HD, and although their is a normal heavy blue cast which I am sure is correctable with a filter and I would suggest finding one that works for this camera.

I would buy this outfit again at this price point.

Sony 580 Exview HAD CCD Helmet Camera V 2.0 Full Kit Review

I purchased this product as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and didn't find out until it was opened that it wasn't what I was expecting. I immediately emailed Adrenaline Systems and did not receive a response. I then messaged through Amazon and managed to get a response, but unfortunately it didn't answer any of my simple questions and appeared to be a canned reply in broken English. I wrote back again restating the same questions in easy to read bullet points. One of the questions being to access their return policy, which I never was given or able to find on their website. They also do not list a phone number or physical address to contact them. However, they did offer store credit if I wanted to return the item, but have ZERO confidence in any of their products or service to exchange. If you are looking for a camera that actually RECORDS video, this is not the item for you. It has to be plugged into a camcorder or DVR (which is not included). My bad for not researching that further before purchasing. Me being naive I thought by purchasing through Amazon I would be protected against sellers such as Adrenaline Systems. In the end, the actual product does not indicate "Sony" anywhere what so ever. Oh, and just for kicks I hooked the camera up to the TV and the picture is crap.

Sony HDR-AS15 HD Action Camcorder with WiFi 16GB Package 2 Review

Very impressed with this thing. It's small, low profile, and takes great video. I primary use it when I play paintball, but I've used it while shooting real guns too. I always use it with the water-proof case and it holds up great. Battery life is great. I can play paintball for most of the day and not worry about changing a battery.

Its easy to use. Just put the card in, the battery in, make sure the switch is not on "hold", then press the red record button. Bam! Once you hear the audio tune come to life (which is loud enough to hear while its inside the waterproof case) you're recording. Takes about a half second delay, but its not bad.

The video is really quite good. I noticed it seems to pick up close range things a bit better than it does long range, but that's ok because it's an action cam, not a long range recon cam. It has a nice field of view. I can have it on the left side of my head and it will pick up a great angle of my paintball marker that is lined up on my right shoulder (I'm right handed). The video quality is good enough to pick up the paintballs that are traveling from my marker at about 250-280 feet per second. My friends started laughing when I showed them the videos because they thought it looked like a FPS like Battlefield or Call of Duty with that configuration. They were very pleased and grateful when I let them borrow it. It's durable enough that I wasn't worried at all about it. I've dropped it with the case and without the case (although more times, with the case) and it still works great. It's simple and easy enough to use that my father (who hates computers and some have called a luddite) uses it on his hunting trips.

Audio is still understandable while in it's waterproof case. Even while moving fast, shooting paintball and getting shot by paintballs. As a matter of fact, the water proof case seems to do wonders for wind/noise cancellation while still getting the stuff you need. You can still hear speech, just slightly muffled. Note: just using the waterproof case for protection, have not tried any underwater video yet.

I've seen some of the footage of this vs a Go Pro and in my opinion this comes out with better video and a cheaper price and smaller profile. I've heard that the Go Pro Hero Black has more customization options, but for what I need, this is great.
