the e 906 is a really lifelike microphone for the money.I find the band/field selection useful with a large number of recording techniques.As an added bonus,for the price of the mic,the audix cab grabber is included in the price as well as a 20 foot mic cable.the audix cab grabber is not quite as versatile as the manufacturer would have you to believe.I simply could not achieve the proper angle for the mic to face the speaker unless a 6 inch goose neck was added to it. (I have an early 90's fender blues deluxe with a 1-12" speaker)In my particular situation,I would not even be able to use an sm-57 or 58 style mic without the goose neck as well as the cab grabber does not reach far enough over to reach the center of the speaker.Also ,as near as I can tell,A 57 0r 58 will not work unless a mic clip is used.(the spring loaded type that allows you to choke up further on the mic)If a regular mic holder is used,it will push too far into the grill cloth.I suspect this will be the case with more than a few applications.
It is indeed a very good idea that has some basic flaws in it and I would like to see audix address these issues as to not confuse and/or piss off future customers.Best advice;try the cab grabber on your cabinet first before you buy.
all in all I got a great microphone a decent mic holder.(after modifying it)and a free mic cable for just the cost of the mic.The vendor even picked up the shipping!!
