Siamod 45295 Carugetto Napa Cashmere Leather Wheeled Detachable Laptop Case (Black) Review

I ordered this to replace my former rolling laptop bag (black, McKlein Chicago series) that I had used for over 5 years. On the old bag, the telescoping handle had finally quit telescoping, plus I was tired of black. Features I particularly wanted included good quality materials, smooth quiet wheels, detachable wheel base, must fit 17" laptop, and TALL telescoping handle (pet peeve of mine is having to slouch to reach the handle of the case once it's tipped on its wheels).

My finalists were this Siamod model, another Siamod case (the Ceresola Vernazza model), and the McKlein West Town 15704 S series. Final choice came down to aesthetics, so I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. This is called "cognac," which is a gorgeous soft warm brown color. It has fewer compartments than my old McKlein case did, but that's OK since it's also lighter and less bulky (ain't no WAY that old one could fit in an overhead airplane bin....it usually had to be gate-checked). I think it will fit under the seat in front of me on most planes, but that wasn't a specific goal, and I don't mind gate-checking if necessary.

Only negative for me: you need TWO hands to completely lower the telescoping handle. With one hand, you can lower it one notch (by pressing down with your thumb while pushing the handle down), but then it stops. To lower it down any further, you have to press a little silver button in, located way down on the handle near the case itself, AND simultaneously push down on the handle. However, I expect to get used to that, and if I need to pick up the case and carry it, I can do so with the handle lowered only that one notch...so it'll probably be fine. It's just different from what I'm used to.

Other caveat: while the size is fine for me (will fit my 17" laptop, plus power cord, mouse, notepad, pens, etc.), it holds a lot less than my old case did. In addition to the laptop, I can only fit about five case files in it comfortably (compared to 10-15 files in my old case). So if you are looking for something like a total mobile office, this might be too small.

Panasonic KXT7885 900MHz Multi-line Cordless Phone Review

I recently purchased a Panasonic cordless multi-line phone, model #KX-TG4000B. My model must be a slightly older model, compared with this new Panasonic model #KX-T7885. The other difference is mine (G4000B) is 2.4GHz, versus this one (7885) is a 900MHz. The reason that I'm writing this review is because I wanted to WARN people about a serious flaw with the older model (G4000B), so that people can make sure that this new model (7885) does NOT have the same flaw. The KX-TG4000B does not allow more than one handset to be connected to the same line at the same time. In other words, if someone calls you on Line #1, and you answer with the base unit, then other people in your house cannot join the conversation on Line #1. If you try to join Line #1 from another handset, then you get a "BUSY message and busy signal. It's crazy. The phone is essentially useless, because of this one major flaw. Double-check the 7885 model to make sure it doesn't have this same flaw.

Tusk TV Console Review

It's nice, I'm okay with the end result. It seems to always be a gamble when buying furniture online. It's Black, black as black can be, although the picture looks like there's a little cherry brown in there, and the description said esspresso brown, it's black!
The holes weren't where the directions said they should be, but a letter to the seller replyed back that the directions were wrong, and you basiclly have to figure it out yourself. That was simple enough, a little annoying, but kind of fun. It's small-ish, low to the ground, and looks great under my TV.

OSD Audio RS850 Weather Resistant Indoor/Outdoor Rock Speaker (Single, Canyon Brown) Review

I originally purchased two of these rock speakers not knowing what to expect except I had read good reviews on the OSD website. When the speakers arrived they were very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I hooked them up by the pool and couldn't believe how good they sounded. Great highs, mids, and lows being produced outside. After a couple months they sounded even better. I then decided to order 5 more to have a 7.1 system at the pool, I take a powered sub out sometimes to help with the very low frequencies. I mainly listen to music and now have coverage through the entire pool area. I have had the speakers for 4 yrs now and they are out 7 months of the year and are still in great shape, a little clean up in October and packed away until the spring. These speakers really have a great sound, I also have Polks, Klipschs, Definitive Techs, and Martin Logans so I know what a good speaker sounds like. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with these. Thank you OSD for adding quality music reproduction for my outside living space.
