This shredder performs reasonably well -- it cuts paper, the safety features work as advertised, and there have been no problems with the electronics or the motor and cutter. What's frustrating is the interior of the removable canister. You cannot put a plastic trash bag in there that will not be sliced open by the sharp protrusions inside when you pull the bag out. The chief culprit is the mounting hardware for the clear plastic view port (so that you can see the level of clippings inside the canister). If you don't use a plastic trash bag, you won't have this problem, but you will then have the problem of emptying the canister without spillage (a problem that depends on what you empty the canister into -- I use a large public recycling dumpster with narrow openings high on the sides, and it's not possible to not spill). Fellowes seems to have envisioned that most people will use a plastic trash bag, because there are hooks inside the canister for holding it in place. If so, then why did they not realize that sharp interior hardware would rip the bag, letting snips of paper scatter themselves about, to be picked up later from inside the body of the machine and also off the carpeting? A lot of thought went into making the machine jam proof and child proof (if you touch the paper slot at the top with your hand, shredding stops), but not enough thought went into elementary design.

Sennheiser HD 25 Studio Monitor Headphones Review

First of all I should say that I love these. They're lightweight, innocuous, and do a good job with muffling sounds outside. I say muffle, as coming from IEMs they do not isolate yourself completely from people talking to you (though they do have to speak much louder than they normally would), but they do isolate yourself from sounds of a city or an airplane. I've taken these on a flight and they are quite lovely. Instead of that awful humming from active NC (think Bose QCs), they merely attenuate all sound around me. I can still hear the flight attendents, yet for some reason can't hear the baby three seats behind me.

As for sound quality, these are quite lovely. While certainly not the best headphones I've ever heard (I reserve that distinction for the HD650s and Grado HF-1s), they have a nice, deep and accurate bass that helps distract from the din of the outside world. Vocals are presented quite well, and as everyone else has said here... treble could use some work. I've only noticed the annoyance in classical pieces, more specifically with strings.

These headphones are built well. Despite being mostly plastic, they do look like they could survive a beating. I've already dropped them a couple of times, and they haven't had a scratch. Plus even if you do manage to break them outside of warranty or are at fault for breaking them Sennheiser has a parts shop to replace most any part. While I have not yet had to deal with them for this headphone, I have had to get replacement pads for another of their headphones and they were quite courteous in sending them and even emailed me instructions on how to properly replace them. I suspect that despite this headphone's high price, it'll in the end prove its own value by outliving me.

Sadly besides the treble they do have a slight problem in their comfort. They initially have a vicegrip on your head. While this helps with isolation it certainly isn't comfortable for the first couple of weeks. Fortunately it does stretch out slightly with regular use, and now I can wear it comfortably even with glasses. If I wanted more grip (for better isolation or if I'm being shaken about for whatever reason), I could just split the headband a bit.

In short this headphone is a great one. Perhaps the best I've ever encountered for a closed headphone, and my new favorite for portable use. Sure they're a bit uncomfortable, bad for classical strings, and look butt ugly... but that just means that they're great at isolation, good at just about every other kind of music, and have little appeal to a mugger.

For the money not a bad speaker stand. One thing that disappointed me though was that a few of the screws used to hold the stand together did not thread very well. I used the stands for a pair of Usher BE-718 Tiny Dancer speakers but since the base of the stand was not all that wide I was worried that the stand might potentially fall to the side, especially considering the fact that the spikes suppied with the stand would not penetrate the carpet.

The Mac version of this software is not ready for prime time. It works, but just barely. It has no features other than downloading the maps to the GPS. Small downloads to the GPS unit are OK, large ones are not. The maps on this disk require over 4G if you include Alaska & Hawaii. Even though the GPS unit will hold and recognize a 4G card, the software will not. This is not documented. Even a 2G download will require 8-12 hr to download and often the unit shuts down during the download. Garmin tech support admitted that this isn't the easiest software to use. Better use Parallels and run the windoz version of the software. Consider yourself warned. I sent it back.

Sony SPK-WB Sports Pack for DSC-W290 Cybershot Camera Review

Just swapped the APK-WB for this one and am much happier. It's a lot more versatile and worth the extra $20 (too bad it's always backordered). You get 4 pieces...a silica housing that molds around the camera, a tough plastic housing that fits over the silica housing and covers the screen and lens (thus making it water tight), a white diffuser, and a strap with a yellow float (so the camera doesn't sink in the water if it slips off your wrist).

The silica housing itself is great for protecting the camera from nicks and scratches and can be used without the rest of the pieces for day hikes, sports events, or anywhere else that you'd take your camera but risk scratching it. The silica casing allows full access to the buttons on the back of the camera (you press them through the silica) so you're not losing functionality. The screen and lens aren't covered so you do risk damage there if you're not careful. The flash is covered but I haven't noticed much of a negative impact of this in the test shots I've taken so far.

The water-tight housing fits over the silica housing and fits over the screen and lens. It doesn't wrap around the entire camera (which makes me a little nervous) but it snaps down so tight that I'm sure it's fine. You still have full access to the buttons on the back of the camera, which is a big bonus over the APK-WB. One of my other beefs with the APK was that the lens housing was so large that it obstructs the flash on the DSC-W290. This is still an issue with the SPK, and can create a shadow effect when you take pictures of things a few feet away with the flash. The diffuser (the white piece that fits over the lens housing) seems to fix this issue pretty well. I took a couple shots using the housing+diffuser and with the camera on its own (no housing) and got pretty much the same image. It's kind of a pain in that it's one more piece to keep track of when you're out snapping pictures, but I'll get over it. Sony might look into providing the diffuser for the APK-WB as well since it has the same flash-obstruction issue (presuming they can't just redesign the housing to not obstruct the flash).

Overall, I'm still not satisfied that the flash is obstructed at all...it seems like such a basic design flaw that it surprises me Sony didn't correct it when they tested these cases prior to mass production (rather than doing a band-aid fix with the diffuser). Of course, fixing this issue might be a detriment to some other feature, so I don't know. Overall, I still like this housing better than the el-cheapo universal housings on the market and love that Sony finally brought the price down and offered a line of these housings rather than a one-model-fits-all for $300 like they've done in the past. The versatility of the SPK-WB is also a big plus if you're like me and you take your camera in a variety of settings and would appreciate a couple of protective options (the silicon housing by itself or with the water-tight housing).
