Air cushion keeps your stuff from falling to the floor when you loosen the section knobs. Very light. What I like most about this stand is that they fold flat, then you can push the folded stand together and they "click" together. I have 4 of these, when I am done I collapse them and click them together so it's like handling one stand and throw them in the Manfrotto bag. Very Nice indeed. They are very light and the legs don't spread that far so don't expect to use them outside in the wind.
