Under instruction from the manufacturer to give these headphones a burn-in - like any piece of finely tuned equipment some headphones require a little warm up - it's advised to give them around 100 Hours to smooth out any rough notes up in those high treble notes!

Vsonic take robustness to the extreme. They don't want their headphones breaking down and causing any upset, so much so that the stress reliefs are probably a little sturdier than you would expect. No complaints here though, the cable matches the performance so we are happy!

A few days after breaking my neck in a car accident and having it stabilized in a halo and vest [...], I found that my Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones would no longer fit my head, due to the device. I owned Sennheiser PX 100 Lightweight Collapsible Headphones, which just fit, but these were not satisfactory due to the goo that got in my hair from pin care. Also, unlike the newer Sennheiser PX 100-II i Light Weight Supra-Aural Headset with 3 Button Control for i-Pod,i-Phone and i-Pad (Black), they don't have as convenient a cord.

I had some earbuds, by Etymolic, which were OK but never lived up to my expectations, being a bit low on bass and without authority if you didn't add an amplifier, messy in a hospital room. After searching reviews on Headfi, I selected the VSONICs as an alternative.

I don't regret it. The set comes with many ear fittings, and I found a set that was comfortable and allowed a decent seal. It took several tries with the rubber ones, but they are just more cleanable than foam. Foam works very well, but there are only a few foam pieces. (The industrious at home can make extra foam replacements from plastic tubing and foam earplugs by drilling a hole through the earplug and trimming as needed)

The sound of the VSONIC is clean, even without additional headphone amplification. It's not screechy, as many earbuds are, nor too bassy as you find with others. Try the foam earpieces to hear the sound with proper sealing; then work with the harder rubber inserts until you get a seal that both reduces outside sound and gives you the proper bass.

I listened to a variety of music including jazz, electronica, rock, acoustic, world music, and vocals. The VSONIC handled all with ease. After about 10 hours they sounded better than at first. I think they need a break-in period. The bass extends low, and definition on the high end is sufficient to clearly resolve things like the sound of the bowstrings scraping on a violin.

While not the equivalent of a full sized audiophile headphone STAX SR-009 Open Back Electrostatic Earspeakers from Japan,Grado Statement Series GS1000i Headphones,Sennheiser HD800 Over-Ear Circum-Aural Dynamic Premiere Headphone, they do a more than adequate job of music reproduction, and certainly are an excellent buy in the category.

I was less than impressed by the lack of English-Language documentation, and the somewhat odd bits in both a carry case and storage pouch. Otherwise I would probably have given 5 stars.
